Biography
Abigail Spanberger became Governor of Virginia in January 2026 after defeating Republican Winsome Earle-Sears in the 2025 election, becoming the state's first female governor. A former CIA officer, she represented Virginia's 7th congressional district in the U.S. House from 2019 to 2026. Virginia governors are constitutionally barred from serving consecutive terms.
